My little Buddy dog

Post by Denise » Tue Oct 10, 2023 12:24 pm

Please pray that I can handle this. We have had Buddy 17 years in January. He is a Pomchi and is almost totally blind, deaf and has lost most of his teeth among other old age problems. We have an appointment to have him euthanized Thursday morning at 10 AM. My heart is breaking; it is a very long time to have a pet that is like family and then all of a sudden not have him any longer. He is very attached to me and has to be right where I am at all times. He has been my shadow all these years. 😥

My poor husband had to take Buddy in by himself because I was at the hospital with Dale waiting for them to come for him to do the surgery. I waited until after 10 AM thinking that Buddy had gone but Stephen was still in a room with him waiting. They give you time to be with your pet to say good-bye. It was around 10:33 AM I got the message saying, "Just now". I was numb about it and tried to keep in mind that Buddy was in pretty bad shape and now he isn't suffering anymore. I had to concentrate on my brother.

Stephen brought him home and through a lot of tears buried him in our pet cemetery with Cheyenne, Manny and Joey. He said this experience was one of the hardest things he has had to go through. Nichole was here so she came in and told Buddy good-bye and petted him for a little while. Stephen was so distraught when he came to the hospital last night to pick me up. All the way home I kept thinking that we had to get here to let the dog out, or, lets get him something good to eat on the way home. Then I would remember he isn't here. 😥

I am having a tough time this morning not doing the normal routine with him. Now I have to do something with his bedding and collars etc. It is just plain weird after all these years. :?
