The Dubious Adrienne von Speyr

Heresy experiments in distortion; orthodoxy developes in proportion. The false emphasis is not only a wrong in itself but it is used as a means of diverting the eyes of men in the wrong direction. Van Zeller

Wow, that woman who wrote this article had serious guts to attack Adrienne von Speyr. She's considered a lynchpin with von Balthazar with the Nouvelle Theologie (New Theology). I was always, ALWAYS cautious of this woman. She and Balthazar are pushed at Franciscan and I just didn't like it.

Balthazar himself prophesied that, "some day, my writings will be considered separate from that of Adrienne von Speyr. That is a mistake. My writings are intimately linked up with her" (or something to that effect). It was directly quoted to us by our professor (a Balthazar junkie).

All purported 'visionaries' and 'mystics' of the 20th Century, IMHO, are immediately distrusted until proven otherwise.
