Saint Landericus of Paris, also known as Landry or Landerico, was the Bishop of Paris, France, from 650 until his death. He is renowned for his numerous contributions to the religious and social welfare of his diocese during his episcopacy.

Born sometime around the 7th century, little is known about Saint Landericus's early life. However, it is believed that he was of noble descent and received a quality education, which contributed to his later achievements as a bishop.

Upon his appointment as Bishop of Paris in 650, Saint Landericus dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the service of his community, both spiritually and socially. One of his most notable accomplishments was the establishment of the first hospital in Paris. Recognizing the desperate need for medical care, particularly for the poor and marginalized, he tirelessly worked to provide a caring and compassionate environment for those in need of healing.

Saint Landericus was also deeply committed to serving the poor. He was known for his personal involvement in works of charity, always seeking opportunities to uplift and provide for the less fortunate. His profound love for the marginalized is a testament to his embodiment of the Gospel values, which emphasized the importance of caring for the impoverished and oppressed.

Furthermore, Saint Landericus played a vital role in promoting monasticism in his diocese. He encouraged the renowned Benedictine order of monks to establish houses and communities within Paris, fostering a greater commitment to religious life and allowing for a more profound spiritual influence on the faithful. Throughout his tenure as Bishop of Paris, Saint Landericus demonstrated a deep devotion to his pastoral duties. He was known for his eloquent preaching, which encouraged his flock to lead lives of holiness and to uphold the teachings of the Church. His exemplary leadership and virtuous character inspired many, and his diocese flourished under his guidance.

Saint Landericus continued to serve the Church faithfully until his death, which is believed to have occurred around the year 661. He passed away from natural causes, having dedicated his life to the service of God and the people of Paris. Recognizing his profound impact on his diocese and the numerous contributions he made to the Church, Saint Landericus was canonized, although the details surrounding his canonization remain unclear. As a pre-congregation saint, his feast day is celebrated on June 10th, commemorating his life and legacy. Though not associated with any specific patronage, the memory of Saint Landericus serves as an inspiration for bishops, clergy, and all people of goodwill to imitate his dedication to the poor, commitment to healthcare, and a life of faithfulness to the Gospel.

St. Landry Parish in Louisiana was named for the Catholic Church Parish that was established about 1767 in the Opelousas Territory and named for St. Landry, the Bishop of Paris who served in 650 AD.
