The greatest friends we have are those who are in heaven cheering us on as we struggle to overcome our sinful nature and live the Christian life.

This Altar was dedicated to St. Therese of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face.

You can see the Baby Jesus at the top of the photo.

Just below the Baby Jesus, on the left, is the statue of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
St. Therese of Lisieux was a Carmelite, cloistered Religious Sister.

On the opposite side is a blue and white statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
That's the "Virgin of the Smile."
That statue I brought back from Lisieux in 1997.

As a child under 5, the little girl Therese was so sad at having lost her mother in death and then her "Second mother - oldest sibling Pauline" left home to join the Carmelites. She almost died of despair when her father placed the statue next to her sickbed.

In a miraculous way the Virgin Mary smiled a ravishing smile which encouraged the toddler to not give up.

The mirror surround of wood features carved roses.
Her Feast Day is today.

Below her is the Guardian Angel statue.
Tomorrow is the Feast of the Guardian Angels - Oct. 2.

This was from St. William in Greenville, TX..
