The Two Roads

Post by Denise » Wed Jan 21, 2015 10:03 am

One day, I saw two roads.
One was broad, covered with sand and flowers,
full of joy, music and all sorts of pleasures.
People walked along it, dancing and enjoying themselves. They reached the end without realizing it.
And at the end of the road there was a horrible precipice;
that is, the abyss of hell.
The souls fell blindly into it; as they walked, so they fell.
And their number was so great
that it was impossible to count them.
And I saw the other road, or rather, a path,
for it was narrow and strewn with thorns and rocks;
and the people who walked along it had tears in their eyes,
and all kinds of suffering befell them.
Some fell down upon the rocks,
but stood up immediately and went on.
At the end of the road there was a magnificent garden
filled with all sorts of happiness, and all these souls entered there.
At the very first instant they forgot all their sufferings.

Words of St. Faustina
from Divine Mercy in My Soul
Devotion to the souls in Purgatory contains in itself all the works of mercy, which supernaturalized by a spirit of faith, should merit us Heaven. de Sales

this vision sticks with me. The words have painted a picture in my mind that I sometimes recall when things get tough.
Domine Non Sum Dignus!

Holiness is not for wimps and the cross is not negotiable, sweetheart, it's a requirement.

deep down, we all know which road we want to end up walking, but alas, sadly sometimes many encounter the doubt ~

“Alice came to a fork in the road. 'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' responded the Cheshire Cat.
'I don't know,' Alice answered.
'Then,' said the Cat, 'it doesn't matter.”

― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
"He who followeth Me, walketh not in darkness." sayeth the Lord
