Utah bishop laments execution by firing squad

Bishop John Wester of Salt Lake City has criticized the scheduled June 18 execution of Ronnie Lee Gardner by firing squad. The method of execution was chosen at the convicted murderer’s request. “The firing squad is archaic, it’s violent, and it simply expands on the violence that we already experience from guns as a society,” said Bishop Wester.

Thank you for praying the chaplet for him. I feel at times like these men on death row are my children. I worry about their souls like a mother.

Lori, I think God has placed the men on death row in your heart so you can pray for them. You are answering His call beautifully.

So why is he dying if that girl killed the officer? The officer even said she did it. :x

I didn't understand that either. I thought it was sort of weird or that maybe there was something we missed in the story.
