Unclear if Pope Francis is awake after diagnosis of kidney failure

Pope Francis was resting on Monday morning, according to the Vatican, marking the 10th day of his hospitalisation due to a lung infection complicated by the early stages of kidney failure.

The Vatican's latest statement, released on Monday, indicated that the 88-year-old pontiff had a peaceful night.

Late on Sunday, medical reports revealed that blood tests indicated early kidney failure, which doctors stated was being managed.

While Francis’s condition remains critical, no new respiratory crises have occurred since Saturday.

He is currently receiving high levels of supplemental oxygen. On Sunday, he was reported to be alert and responsive, and he participated in Mass.

Doctors have said Francis' condition is touch-and-go, given his age, fragility and pre-existing lung disease. He suffered pleurisy as a young man and had part of one lung removed.

I just read an unconfirmed report that the pope has less than 72 hours to live. That is what they said about my dad and so we dad napped him from the hospital and brought him home. He lived another month under our watchful eye. So, no one really knows. I prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the dying, for the pope.

yes I heard that also - less than 72 hours
interestingly we reported in early february that due to his puffiness it could be kidney failure, and now the Drs have relased that his kidneys are failing

72 hours reported but it is in God's hands
continuing prayers

Pope Francis has under 72 hours to live: latest reports

Reports citing 'reliable sources' within Gemelli Hospital are saying Pope Francis has less than 72 hours to live.

(LifeSiteNews) — Reports from “reliable sources” in Rome are saying that Pope Francis has less than 72 hours to live.

LifeSiteNews’ Vatican correspondent Michael Haynes has relayed reports citing “reliable sources” at the Gemelli Hospital which say Francis has less than 72 hours to live. The reports have not been verified by Vatican officials.

Later on Monday, the Vatican reported that Francis’ condition is still “critical” but he is showing “slight improvement.”

Andrew Bolt delves into the possibility of a more conservative pope this time
after the non success of francis

Pope Francis has not been a ‘great success’ for the Vatican
Story by Sky News Australia • 20h •

Sky News host Andrew Bolt claims Pope Francis has not been a “great success” for the Vatican.

“You can be sure that the Cardinals who elect new popes are really thinking of the next step after Francis,” Mr Bolt said.

“To be honest, I don’t want to crow over a sick man’s bed but the Pope has not been a great success.

“They’re even warnings that the Vatican faces bankruptcy, in part because donations are down.”

Donations will really be done when people see that the Vatican was in cahoots with USAID. 😠

Pope Francis suffers 'breathing crisis,' Vatican says

According to the Vatican, the 88-year-old pontiff suffered an isolated breathing crisis.

"This afternoon ... the Holy Father experienced an isolated bronchospasm crisis," the Vatican said.

Pope Francis was put on “non-invasive mechanical ventilation” Feb. 28 after suffering a respiratory crisis, Vatican News reported. A bronchospasm “led to an episode of vomiting with aspiration.” He responded well to ventilation, but his prognosis “remains reserved.”

Aspirating vomit, with all that stomach acid can be very damaging. It can also cause infections if there are bacteria that were also aspirated. It sounds like the pope is suffering.

It sounds like the pope is suffering.
Let him pick up his cross and follow Christ through this season of Lent and hopefully come out on the other side a renewed and holy pope. ✝️
