What controversial liturgical law was promulgated by the Pope in 1053,
and what did it lead to?
The papacy decreed that all lands under its jurisdiction must follow the Latin Rite or be closed down.
This lead to the Constantinople Patriarch reciprocating with ordering the closure of latin churches who did not ditch the Latin rite, in the Eastern capital.
Fast forward to today,
bergoglio cancelling the latin rite
meeting with Orthodox bishops to agree with Easter date together, despite the ancient papal changing of the calendar to more reflect the correct date of easter as scientific and new evidence emerged regarding correct seasons, yet the orthodox refusing to.

Re: History of the Church
Emperor Justinian (commenced reign in 527AD, wanted to secure the relics of St Peter, to have them removed from Rome and be placed under the altar at Hagia Sophia in Constantinople (now Istanbul, modern day Turkey). He notified the Pope in Rome.
The Pope's response to the Emperor was to send a handkerchief that had touched the relics, after being lowered into St Peter's crypt.
He sent that instead and said, "I'm not going to give you St. Peter. He belongs in Rome but this second class relic has now touched his bones."
fast forward to 2019 ......argh wait for it......out of the blue Pope Francis sent to the patriarch of Constantinople the relics of St. Peter that had been kept in the papal apartment
In 1942, there was a big exploration underneath St. Peter's Basilica into the bones of St. Peter. were identified.
basically establishing as far as modern science can - the authenticity of the bones.
And some of those bones were taken from underneath the altar of St. Peter's Basilica into the papal apartments into the Pope's private chapel.
So then Pope Francis Again, completely randomly shocked the world by taking those relics.
And giving them to the greek orthodox patriarch. Bartholomew.
Who himself then stated:
This is an extraordinary and unexpected event that we did not expect.
The relics of the Holy Apostle Peter were always kept in Rome where they were kept for the purpose of pilgrimage.
The Orthodox Church has never asked for them since they never belonged to the church
Of Constantinople. This time, we cannot speak of a return of relics to their original place.
These relics are being presented as a new gift.
For 2,000 years the relics of Peter have been in Rome and francis removes them from their resting place and gives them to the Patriarch of Constantinople.
even the Easterners were stunned.
They're very keen on having all the different parts of Andrew.

Devotion to the souls in Purgatory contains in itself all the works of mercy, which supernaturalized by a spirit of faith, should merit us Heaven. de Sales
