Last week, Mr. Hichborn was honored to be on The World Over with Raymond Arroyo. As the leading expert in Catholic use of USAID funds, his phone has been ringing off the hook ever since, and he has an entire week of interviews now lined up.
If you read my, Michael Hichborn's, newsletters, you know we've been fighting against USAID for a very long time. As you can imagine, this is why our focus has turned so completely to the horrific amount of waste and corruption coming from the federal government, especially as it pertains to Catholic organizations masquerading as "charities."
Most Americans don't know this, but USAID was established AS a population control organization! It's very charter from 1961 stipulates that countries receiving AID from the United States must show a commitment to (among other things) controlling their own population growth. Here's what it says!
"In order to make possible consistent and informed judgments in this respect [to help satisfy basic human needs of poor people], the President shall assess the commitment and progress of countries in moving toward the objectives and purposes of this chapter by utilizing criteria, including but not limited to the following:
(C) control of population growth"
Despite this, Catholic Relief Services and the USCCB have routinely lobbied Congress to increase funding for USAID and similar funding agencies. Why? Because Catholic Relief Services is USAID's highest paid agency! Forbes recently revealed that CRS has received a whopping $4.6 billion from USAID between the years 2013 and 2022.
Right after the cuts were announced, Catholic Relief Services immediately turned to faithful pew-sitting Catholics, begging them to call their members of Congress to try to turn the flow of USAID money back on! Here's the ad that showed up on their website:
A couple of days later, Sean Callahan – CRS’s CEO who makes $640,000/year – complained that CRS may have to lay off up to 50% of its staff because the federal funds flowing into CRS’s coffers have dried up. And then, just yesterday morning, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops sent out an appeal to Catholics, begging them to call Congress to restore federal funding for Catholic Relief Services:
Reading through the comments on the USCCB's social media page where this was posted has made one thing abundantly clear – Catholics are FED UP! Catholics are sick and tired of being lied to and bullied into following whatever priority of the Democrat party the USCCB is shilling for on any given week! Whether it's the dubious science of environmentalism, the reckless open borders, the theologically unsound cry to end the death penalty, or lining the pockets of Catholic bureaucrats with federal funds, faithful Catholics don't want to hear it anymore!

When I was challenged by some liberal supporters of CRS to produce evidence that CRS had acted against Church Teaching with USAID funds, I provided them with a CRS-produced document titled "Wetti You Wan Be When You Go Grow?" This training manual tells vulnerable kids that "masturbation" is a form of "safe sex."
It's absolutely disgusting! But this is the kind of thing we are up against.
