What Protestants have a problem with

This forum is intended to be a safe place for non-Catholics AND Catholics to ask questions about Catholicism and Catholic teachings. Here you can read about the faith from faithful, practicing Catholics, ask them your questions, and start to find out exactly what being a Catholic is all about. (Questions and discussions on matters of faith are to be kept respectful and non-inflammatory.)

Devotion to the souls in Purgatory contains in itself all the works of mercy, which supernaturalized by a spirit of faith, should merit us Heaven. de Sales

interestingly I've had protestants ask for prayers - why did they not go directly to Jesus instead of through a sinner like me?

and they question going through the sanctified Holy Mother who carried the Lord in her womb?

Sadly, protestants don't think that much about Mary to even consider that she's sinless compared to whoever they're asking to pray for them. It is a twisted logic that is hard to explain.
