Post by Denise »

Devotion to the souls in Purgatory contains in itself all the works of mercy, which supernaturalized by a spirit of faith, should merit us Heaven. de Sales

: Pax Invictus (“Peace to the Unconquered”),
"pax" is a 3rd declension noun in the nominative - peace
"invictus" is in the nominative not the dative and is an adjective

better translation would be "unconquered peace"
"He who followeth Me, walketh not in darkness." sayeth the Lord

: Pax Invictus (“Peace to the Unconquered”),
oops my bad.....i thought it ended in "-US' as per my post up there....
after i clicked the link to purchase the book i saw it ended in -IS instead
therefore indeed making it the dative form.

"peace to the unconquered / or undefeated"
"He who followeth Me, walketh not in darkness." sayeth the Lord

also note that the "invictis" is used in the title in the plural form of the dative (and also the ablative form)....so would refer to "peace to the unconquered (plural) ones....

not just to Cardinal Pell.

also note that "invictis" with -is suffix is also in the ablative plural form and can raise other meanings
"He who followeth Me, walketh not in darkness." sayeth the Lord
