Pray for these bishops!! Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they are speaking up for Truth. More than glad. But I fear they have made themselves targets. Their crosses may be beginning

The Bishops, Cardinals, priests have been on their toes from the beginning of this pontificate and feel its their duty to speak out. The latest - the excommunication of Archb. Vigano, just highlights how far francis is going with removing top prelates and replacing them with 3rd world less qualified ones that won't question him. We saw this happening from the beginning......Cardinal Burke especially bore the brunt of it all. Other cardinals and bishops also suffered for keeping the faith. Bishop Strickland another casualty ...removal from his diocese......the correct legal proceedings were not followed or adhered to or even consulted.

Cardinal Newman wrote a great piece about being answerable to God first, not the Pope.

These are what these good men are following. They have a duty to their flocks.

In magisterial terms, each bishop is responsible for his own diocese. Francis has been overstepping his role as Pope and needs to be accountable for it. He will be....one day....in God's time.

uh oh
Bp Schneider has been summoned
Lets keep him in prayers

VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) — Pope Francis met with Bishop Athanasius Schneider, the auxiliary bishop of Astana, Kazakhstan, this morning.

It was unexpectedly reported today that the Pontiff had just received the tradition-loving Bishop Schneider in a “private audience.”

The subject of the meeting is not yet known.

Bishop Schneider has been critical of aspects of Pope Francis’ teachings while maintaining that his papacy is legitimate.

During his pontificate, Pope Francis has punished, sidelined, or demoted Catholic prelates who have taken exception to theological novelties he has pronounced, published, or encouraged. These include Cardinal Raymond Burke, once a leading member of the Curia; Cardinal Gerhard Müller, formerly the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, whom Francis has excommunicated, and Bishop Joseph Strickland, whom Francis has deprived of his See of Tyler, Texas.

Bishop Schneider recently appeared in a Polish documentary explaining the “four marks” of the Catholic Church and defending an orthodox understanding of ecclesiology

A reminder of the 4 marks of the Catholic Church

One - unity under the Supreme Pontiff - the Pope - the successor of St Peter
Holy - established by Christ
Catholic - universal - eternal - teaches the same doctrines from Christ
Apostolic - founded by Christ - to his apostles - governed by their lawful successors

I would like to see a transcript of Bp Schneider's interview. Interested to see why he was summoned to Rome.

Cardinal Burke has been silenced.....Archb. Vigano excommunicated by Bergoglio....Bp Strickland removed from his Texas See....

praying for Bp Schneider.

In a short Jan. 21 statement sent to the Register, the auxiliary bishop of Astana, Kazakhstan, called on the faithful to “pray for Pope Francis that he might confirm the Church in the Faith.”
One of Bishop Schneider’s most recent criticisms related to Pope Francis’ comments in Singapore in September 2024 when he said “every religion is a way to arrive at God.”

Bishop Schneider argued that the Pope’s claim contradicted divine Revelation and undermined the uniqueness of Christ as the sole Savior.
In a profession of faith written in response to the Pope’s words and other perceived ambiguities in Francis’ teaching, Bishop Schneider stated that Christians “are not simply ‘traveling companions’ along with adherents of false religions — which God forbids.” The profession also fervently implored “the help of Divine grace for all those churchmen today who, by their words and deeds, contradict the Divinely revealed truth about Jesus Christ and His Church as the only path by which men can reach God and eternal salvation.”
The Kazakhstan bishop, who grew up under Soviet Union communism, has also been unafraid to make other forthright criticisms. These have included his opposition to the Pope’s changes to allow divorced-and-civilly-remarried Catholics to receive Communion in some cases; the 2023 Vatican declaration Fiducia Supplicans allowing non-liturgical blessings of same-sex couples; and criticisms of Francis’ synodal reforms, including issuing a joint letter with Cardinal Raymond Burke just before the Amazon synod critical of an “almost general doctrinal confusion” in the Church today

He strongly condemned Pope Francis’ support for civil same-sex unions in 2020 and has consistently opposed Pope Francis’ limitations on the traditional Latin Mass, viewing them as an attack on Catholic tradition and a source of division within the Church. .
Last year, he opposed the excommunication of Archbishop Carlo Viganò, saying that while Viganò’s criticisms were “irreverent and disrespectful,” he believed excommunicating him would “increase divisions even more.”
Although critical, Bishop Schneider has always tried to be respectful, saying his criticisms are “an expression of true and sincere love for the Pontiff” and part of a bishop’s duty to speak up when they believe the Pope is in error.

...The faithful, he said in September 2023, must “keep a cool head and at the same time a true supernatural view and trust in Divine intervention and in the indestructibility of the Church.”
