Prayers for my father

Post by Johnna »

My daddy's health is slowly deteriorating. The medicine is doing nothing for the cancer, so there's no point in continuing. God is merciful in that somehow he's still pain free. He tires so very easily, and constantly has nausea. So he's hardly eating and is skin and bones. But he's otherwise awake and aware. God is slowly easing me into this whole thing.

Please just send your prayers. Between that, a bankruptcy, kids being quarantined for possible covid exposure (they're ok and back to classroom monday), and not doing online school while i'm at work, I'm just a "bit" overwhelmed and exhausted.

I will offer up all we are going through right now for your dad. Bless his heart! I am so happy he has no pain; neither did my mom. That is a blessing. Losing a parent is very painful and I pray God will give comfort for you and the family.

Love ya kiddo
Devotion to the souls in Purgatory contains in itself all the works of mercy, which supernaturalized by a spirit of faith, should merit us Heaven. de Sales

I saw him over the weekend. I'm glad I went. He was so thrilled to see me. He's picked out a stone and has had his and my mother's name on it. It's all set and ready to go. They'll actually come to the grave site to put his death date on when the time comes. My mom's ashes will be laid to rest the same time his are added there.
I thought it was morbid that he chose his stone etc. But my sister says that is not uncommon. She also said it was his way of taking care of my mother one last time. Time has helped heal Mom's loss for me. Nine and a half years. But not for my father. My sister says not a day goes by that he doesn't mention missing her.

It really just is his time, or nearly so. Only the Father knows the day and hour.
