Day 1

Charity

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let us bow down in humility at the power and grandeur of the Holy Spirit. Let us worship the Holy Trinity and give glory today to the Paraclete, our Advocate.

Oh Holy Spirit, by Your power, Christ was raised from the dead to save us all. By Your grace, miracles are performed in Jesus' name. By Your love, we are protected from evil. And so, we ask with humility and a beggar's heart for Your gift of Charity within us.

The great charity of all the the host of Saints is only made possible by your power, Oh Divine Spirit. Increase in me, the virtue of charity that I may love as God loves with the selflessness of the Saints.

Amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, through Christ Our Lord,

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you MarieT! Do you have to go through a charade to attend Mass? Wear a mass, use sanitizer, only receive on the tongue and keep your distance from others? Here, they posted a video you have to watch on facebook and on that video it shows the steps we are suppose to follow in order to attend Mass. It's like cattle being herded in and out. I feel so sad for Jesus.

Hi June
Yes, it is so sad.
But we are counting our blessings we can attend, despite the changes.

new changes - easing of restrictions in Australia

In our (approx) 25 Million population, there are 482 active cases in the whole country, so our situation isnt as critical as most of the rest of the western world.

previously : only 10 permitted at Mass (plus Mass assistants) now 20 permitted
Weddings and funerals different guidelines

Our State Government permits 20 people now to attend a Mass (plus those that assist in the Mass).....on the condition that Social distancing is maintained (1.5 metres) and that the names of all participants are recorded. Due to my role in the Church, I am not counted as one of the 20 and count my blessings that i can attend Mass daily.

Masks are not obligatory (no one wears them) in our parish.

Rules are that those that are ill, or runny nose, cough etc are not permitted to attend.

the Church doors are opened so no one has to touch the handle to open.

On arrival, all Mass participants must hand sanitise their hands with the supplied disinfectant dispenser before entering the church

Holy water is via prepacked bottles from the Easter Vigil that parishioners can request from our Parish Priest. Everyone gets their own bottle ... the font is kept empty.

Re Communion:
Consecration proceeds as usual.......but the Hosts are placed on the Corporal on the altar and then the Priest steps back and as each participant approaches, the Celebrant says "Body of Christ" and after their response "Amen" they pick up one of the Hosts and after receiving it, walk back to their designated seating.

Reception of Communion on the tongue is forbidden. There is no direct contact between the Priest and congregation.

In the line for Communion, the distance of 1.5 m between each person must always be maintained.
At the completion of Mass, all seating is spray-disinfected and left to air dry.
People exit the Church.

Good grief! So people can reach and get poor Jesus? Does anyone stop to think that the person self-communicating will actually touch another host themselves? Makes no sense. Why don't they just use the tongs? Maybe they haven't a clue about them.

Norms for receiving Communion
50. The communicant, including the extraordinary minister, is never allowed to self-communicate, even by means of intinction. Communion under either form, bread or wine, must always be given by an ordinary or extraordinary minister of Holy Communion.

I did bring this up with our previous priest - self communicating. He said the Celebrant is in fact offering it by saying "The Body of Christ"
The Bishops have given special dispensation for this to take place.

The Corporal is not the tradtional size. Large ones have been used to ensure a greater distance between the Hosts.

They werent happy to use the tongs because the negative aspect would be either "dropping " the host in the hand (which would be disrespectful) or risking touching the Communicant's hands with the tongs and then spreading it to following communicants. Also 1.5 metres must be maintained between persons at all times and the tongs would have to be extremely long.

Hopefully this situation resolves and we can resume proper procedures as soon as possible
God's speed

"He said the Celebrant is in fact offering it by saying "The Body of Christ"

When I read that I had to chuckle as sad as the statement is. It is amazing what some priests will say. I will quote a faithful priest here.

"There are priests out there will tell you that you can marry a giraffe if your ceilings are tall enough"
