The 1959 film "The Miracle" starring Carroll Baker and Roger Moore tells the story of a statue of the Madonna coming to life and taking the image of a young postulant who leaves the convent to enter the wide world....ie. she 'replaces' her so her absence isnt noted while giving the young postulant to 'taste' the 'outside' world out of the confines of the convent.
is the 'legend' or 'story' of "our lady of Miraflores" fact or fictional?
beautiful film i saw as a child and by the grace of God stumbled across it after confession on All soul's day last week. (i have been searching many years for this film).
I have never heard of this miracle via church documentation or otherwise.
(the postulant 'teresa'....the statue "our lady of miraflores"...set in spain's convent of the valley of miraflores)
many thanks for any feedback

There was a video on YouTube before it was taken down. The title was "Ladies, before you go into the convent, look at this!!" I didn't view that accursed video but the thumbnail image of a guy only in tighty-whities was enough to tell me of what his intention was.
What's that about tasting the outside world?

i dont know anything about a guy in tights on youtube lol.....
lots of saints however have reportedly spoken of falling away at some time or questioning etc... b4 settling into a life of pious devotion and closing out the outside world.... and returning to the Lord...many religious claim it in their life stories of similar experiences.
it can happen to 'the best of the flock" even say st augustine, a great Doctor of the Church.
nevertheless, i wish i could understand spanish or mexican because one of the google entries stated 'santa teresa miraflores'

Although raised as a Catholic, Augustine left the Church to follow the controversial Manichaean religion, much to the despair of his mother.
As a youth Augustine lived a hedonistic lifestyle for a time and, in Carthage, he developed a relationship with a young woman who would be his concubine for over fifteen years. During this period he had a son, Adeodatus,[8] with the young woman.
Augustine's mother had followed him to Milan and he allowed her to arrange a society marriage, for which he abandoned his concubine (however he had to wait two years until his fiancée came of age; he promptly took up in the meantime with another woman). It was during this period that he uttered his famous prayer, "Grant me chastity and continence, but not yet" [da mihi castitatem et continentiam, sed noli modo] (Conf., VIII. vii (17)).
Fr. Henri Nouwen, renowned author and catholic priest with such works as The Wounded Healer, The Return of the Prodgial Son, In the Name of Jesus, Clowning in Rome, The Life of the Beloved and The Way of the Heart "just a few of the more widely recognized titles" talks about this experience that the film illustrates. In the summer of 386, after having read an account of the life of Saint Anthony of the Desert which greatly inspired him, Augustine underwent a profound personal crisis and decided to convert to Catholic Christianity, abandon his career in rhetoric, quit his teaching position in Milan, give up any ideas of marriage, and devote himself entirely to serving God and the practices of priesthood, which included celibacy
