sourcePope Benedict XVI could be declared a Doctor of the Church
Former Vatican Press Officer Joanne Bergamin says Pope Benedict XVI could one day be declared a “Doctor of the Church” through his unpublished works.
“I’m excited to see the writings that will come now following his passing,” Ms Bergamin told Sky News host James Morrow.
“He hasn’t published any of the work; he’s been sitting in his study and working on all this time in his retirement.”

I have no doubt that he is a Doctor of the Church, declared or not.

The Political Philosophy of Joseph Ratzinger
Joseph Ratzinger was aware of the central event of modernity, namely the transferal of basic Christian categories from the transcendent order to the political order of this world.
Fr. James V. Schall
Editor’s Note: A number of years ago, Crisis Magazine asked Fr. James V. Schall, S. J. to write a piece about Pope Benedict XVI in the event of the former pontiff’s passing. Since then Fr. Schall himself passed away (in 2019). This piece is likely then the last published writing of Fr. Schall.

I know you are having a tough time, Marie. I am sad he is gone. I was looking at the pictures of him laying there earlier and my first thought was, "You aren't there, that is just the vessel that your soul used to go through life." The sadness kind of left me because I realized that he can hear me when I speak to him. When he was alive there was no way that could happen, unless he was gifted like St. Pio. I will always pray for him but I will also ask his intercession.
