Stephen turned on the TV a few minutes ago and that is the first thing he saw, news of the Papa's passing. We knew it was coming but it is always a shock. I asked God to allow a bypass from any purgation and take his precious soul straight into the arms of Jesus and his dear friend, PJPII, and of course Our Lady, St. Joseph and all of Heaven.

I am happy for him but sad for all of us who make up the Church Militant. 😪🙏

Joseph Ratzinger: A Man Sent from God

In my opinion, Joseph Ratzinger will be remembered as the best theologian of the twentieth century, having the longest and most impactful legacy of any Catholic theologian since Newman.

very sad indeed - God has graced us to endure this sadness.

This morning (Sunday Mass) I had to alter the prayer card sent to me to pray for him - to now pray for his soul.
What a way to end 2022 and come into the new year 2023

extraordinary that he (a leader of the Catholic Church) and Queen Elizabaeth (leader of the Church of England) would both die in the same year and at the same age of 95.

truly an end of an era
may they both rest in peace

How beautiful he is. Farewell Papa Benedict, hoping to meet you on the shores of Heaven.

I remember when this happened, I mentioned here that this was a sign for me that Cardinal Ratzinger would be handed the Papacy, also a Cross to bear.

Benedict XVI’s Personal Secretary: ‘The Proclamation of God Was the Center of Benedict XVI’s Pontificate’

Archbishop Georg Gänswein discussed at length the final years of the pope emeritus in a wide-ranging interview with EWTN last month.

The Catholic Church has lost a great man, a great theologian, and a most humble saint. Let us stand with the crowd and yell out "santo subito"

The Archbishop of Sydney, Anthony Fischer wrote an amazing tribute that epitomises all that our dearest Papa Benedetto exhibited in his life.
Extract:
The archbishop described Pope Benedict as one of the greatest theologian-popes in the Church's two-thousand-year history...

"For more than 70 years, as priest-theologian, bishop-pastor, cardinal-prefect, teacher-pope and finally pope-emeritus, Joseph Ratzinger selflessly served Christ and his Church."
