ADNKronos - Benedict’s cardiac surgeon has left Rome to take up a new post in Naples.
Professor Luigi Chiariello will: now lead the Heart Centre at the Clinica Mediterranea .which he hopes to establish as a centre of excellence in cardiac treatment and research.
It was Professor Chiariello who replaced Benedict’s pacemaker, which had been in place for more than ten years, shortly before he announced his retirement.
Professor Chiariello described Joseph Ratzinger as “an extremely serene and simple gentleman. Now the Pope Emeritus no longer needs cardiovascular care, but if he did he can be monitored and cared for by the team."
Devotion to the souls in Purgatory contains in itself all the works of mercy, which supernaturalized by a spirit of faith, should merit us Heaven. de Sales
