CANDLEMAS, CANDLES & LIGHT

Post by Denise » Mon Jan 30, 2023 8:17 am

February 2nd is the feast of the Presentation of the Lord Jesus in the Temple. It commemorates Simeon’s famous prophecy that Jesus would be a “light of revelation to the Gentiles.” It is also known as Candlemas since it is the day that candles are blessed for use throughout the Church year.

A special day for us all.

I purchased a wonderful candle today for the event and I hope Fr doesnt mind that it will be different from those handed out, but it caught my eye and with the event 'around the corner' I thought it was a fitting sign.
