For those devoted to Our Lady of Fatima, October 13th is a significant day.
On this day in 1917, Our Blessed Mother gave proof that her apparitions to three children were genuine. Seventy thousand people who had gathered at the apparition site and stood standing for hours in drenching rain, saw the sun come out to dry their clothes instantaneously and dance in the sky.
Fast forward to today. The fact that a Moslem Jihad has been called to start on this day, October 13th, is an added significance for it is important to remember that Our Lady of Fatima told the children that she alone could bring peace to the world if people would pray the Rosary every day and make sacrifices in reparation or sin.
It has long been the teaching of the saints that war is a punishment for sin. We live in a world where sin abounds unchecked everywhere. The Devil is on a rampage to promote vice and unnatural sin in schools among innocent children, in the home—the heart of society—though modern media, and in the market place wherever one turns. It’s unescapable.
The civilized world should be, and is, shocked and horrified at the recent atrocities against babies in Palestine and yet turns a blind eye to the daily crushing of the heads and dismembering of babies in the womb by abortion here in the U.S. Mass Media loves to broadcast the details and gore of every crime except that of abortion.
Our Lady of Fatima predicted World War II: “If people do not cease from offending God, a worse one (war) will break out during the pontificate of Pope Pius XI.” She went on to say that God would punish the world for its crimes by means of wars, famines, and persecutions of the Church.
We see that her prophesy has come true in the persecution of the True Church in China—the underground Church that will not bend to the state takeover. We see “wars and rumors of war” all around us.
On October 13, 1917, Our Lady revealed her identity at Fatima as “Our Lady of the Rosary.” She asked for devotion to her sorrowful Immaculate Heart as a sure refuge for all our troubles. People “must amend their lives, ask forgiveness for their sins and not offend Our Lord any more, for He is already very much offended.”
At each apparition, her constant message was, “Say the Rosary every day.” To gain God’s favor and protection, what better advice!
