Catholic dioceses across the U.S. refuse to offer Masses for Trump

Michael Hichborn emphasized that offering a Mass for the good of the soul of a politician ‘cannot be construed as a political act' but is 'no different than the prayer of the Good Thief.'

so sad
its a perfect act of mercy to offer mass for someone who has been wrongly accused,
had an election stolen from him
been the victim of attempted assassinations
to deprive someone of a mass offering is un Christian

I agree! It is totally unfair Christian to refuse to offer mass for someone. Maybe there are cases that I can't imagine where it wouldn't be. But in this case??
I guess even if it isn't being offered up publicly, we can offer up our mass privately when we are there.

But, COVID 2020 showed us how much the Church in America seems to give in to demands of the government. My second thought is that this shouldn't be as big of a shock as it was to me.

Sadly its a whole new world.

I recall when the war with russia and ukraine commenced,
I went to offer a mass for President Putin after our spiritual advisor
said we must pray for him.

The stipend and envelope were submitted, but the Mass was never done (to my knowledge)...
attending daily mass and the non bulletin acknowledgement led me to this belief.

The Lord knows that the Mass offering was intended so
I think the Mass was as if celebrated.....in God's eyes and mine.

I was thinking the same thing as I read your post.
