On the Pope's autobiography

Post by Denise » Tue Mar 19, 2024 7:26 pm

From Catholic Culture

"Apart from being the Solemnity of St. Joseph, today will go down in history as the astonishing day on which a pope published his own autobiography."

Unsurprisingly, both Phil Lawler and I have strong opinions on the subject:

Phil: Pope Francis, ‘doctor of the law’

Jeff: A fundamentally sterile papal autobiography?

"I do not want to put Fr. Jerry Pokorsky’s most recent contribution in the same category, because he rightly turns the question of autobiography into a spiritual reflection on how we all try to control how our lives will be viewed, when only God’s view matters.

Read: Controlling Narratives.

Devotion to the souls in Purgatory contains in itself all the works of mercy, which supernaturalized by a spirit of faith, should merit us Heaven. de Sales

How curious that Francis would write his own autobiography.

Perhaps this is because, he gets to choose what goes in and what is excluded.....

Does anyone else believe that this is in response to Arch. Ganswein's recent book on Pope Benedict - in which francis is portrayed in a not-so-good-light?....francis wanting to 'set the records straight"?

The facts speak for themselves
"He who followeth Me, walketh not in darkness." sayeth the Lord
