Speculation was arising if he was to attend the event as he has always been a great contributor as per reports.

The role of the pope is to safeguard the tradition handed down since the time of apostles, to teach accordingly, and to be the point of unity.
Sadly, going by reports of majority of his leading Cardinals, he hasnt achieved any of those.
Holy Mother Church will survive because the Holy Spirit guides it. Those who break from their God given duties do so of their own accord.
