Manuel was 28 when he shot and killed the police officer. They are going to execute him at 61.

Please pray for Manuel, his victim, Officer Pena, and all of the famiies involved.

I really think that we need to intensify our prayers for the victim's family, especially his children. They want revenge.

“There’s no way anybody could have stopped me from blowing his brains out,” Pena said. “But my family is always telling me don’t do anything stupid in court.”

Far from offering solace and closure, statements like this (by the victim's son) show how deeply corrosive the need for vengeance (which is the only real justification for the death penalty) is to the soul, transforming reason, mercy.. all that makes us human.. into a consuming hatred.. festering for 3 decades. I can pretty well guarantee if the execution is carried out on Thursday it will simply stoke, rather than assuage, the frustrations of the murder for Pena.
