Mistranslation DOES happen. For example, it was the reason for a huge delay in the history of the divine mercy devotion. So whether they're sincere or not, it is a very plausible excuse for why a devotion is not approved. Just remember that God will sort it all out in the end. If he wants something ...

I had never heard of them before, but CatholicCulture.org gives their website a red light. Holy Love Ministry is a group that has been active in the Cleveland area for several years. In 1985 Maureen Sweeney-Kyle started reporting heavenly locutions when the Blessed Mother allegedly appeared to her a...

Hello and welcome to the board!
I am from Indiana, I have only visited TX once (thanks to Joe, God bless him.), but it only takes one visit to see how holy St. Williams is.

It is always good to have new people on the board. Don't be shy, jump right in and post away! :D

Interesting argument, that the people "like" it. A father is supposed to give their children what they need first! Whether they like it or not is secondary. The pastor of a Church is a spiritual father. One would think his duties would be similar along those regards.

It seems to me that most priests I meet these days fall into the category that Denise mentioned. This or that seemingly "little" thing in the rubrics is not followed, but they otherwise seem good men and orthodox in their teachings. It makes me sad.

I am not surprised either. In fact I would have been surprised by anything less! If they were going to be satiated by anything other than approval, they would have been quiet and gone away a long time ago.

Marie, I am sorry that this is such a distraction for you. Closing my eyes during the our father eliminates the distraction for me, but then again I haven't had someone try to rip my hand away from its posture. Usually my posture and avoiding eye contact with my neighbors is enough to keep my hands ...

I ususally do the same thing as Denise with the same results. I have the added benefit of my baby being more than a handful, so if anyone did try to hold my hand, they wouldn't feel snubbed because I wasn't reaching out to them, but it isn't a huge problem. The only one who seems to care is my 8 yea...

But how can one explain the need for bapitsm, especially infant baptism without talking about original sin? I am a bit dumbfounded here.

I didn't know the Church wasn't teaching either... I was taught original sin in RCIA. I am aware that there are whole groups of people who don't even believe in sin of any kind. (hopefully not Catholics, but what do I know...) Original sin is the only thing that makes this world make sense. Without ...

Err on the side of life!

Human life is precious and a treasure. This girl is a miracle, and proof of the fact that we should err on the side of life.
